Violations and comments on food-safety inspections conducted last week by the Delaware County Health Department of establishments with liquor licenses, with violations found at five of seven locations visited:
Four Birds Distilling, 1901 Darby Road, Havertown:
• Facility does not have a valid food license issued by the Delaware County Health Department.
• PIC is not a Certified Food Protection Manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an accredited program.
Sophie’s BBQ, 1901 Darby Road, Havertown:
• PIC did not demonstrate knowledge of licensing requirements.
• PIC Certified Food Protection Manager certificate is expired
UNO Pizzeria & Grill, 1516 Providence Ave., Chester:
• Chicken wings in walk in cooler are 44.4 °F. Time/Temperature Control for Safety Food is not maintained at 41°, or less.
• Steak is 45.1 °F. Time/Temperature Control for Safety Food is not maintained at 41°, or less.
• Soil residue present on shelving of walk in cooler
Fibber’s Sports Bar and Grille, 327 S. 69th St., Upper Darby:
• Food storage containers are not labeled.
The Goat’s Beard, 103 N. Wayne Ave., Wayne:
• Observed a can of commercial bug spray and bait in the bar under counter area that is a restricted use pesticide that does not meet the requirements specified in 40 CFR 152 Subpart I Classification of Pesticides.
A la carte
Most of the violations are handled on the spot, usually by moving or discarding any food in question and cleaning what was found to be dirty, and a few require follow-up visits.
Delaware County presents the inspections with no further comment than above. The county also inspects many more facilities than restaurants with liquor licenses.
This week, there were three routine inspections, three follow-ups and one complaint.
Clean bills of health this week:
• ShopRite, 5075 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven
• Hayes Lounge, 201 Hayes St., Chester
The Daily Times corrects only grossly improper spelling, capitalization, abbreviation and punctuation from the reports.
Tinicum Township reports through the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture website. No inspections were listed for the week.
Tinicum is the only one of the seven Delaware County townships that doesn’t rely on the county health department for inspections that reports through the state.
However, the Chester County Health Department inspected three Delaware County-based food trucks and all received an “in compliance.” They were:
• Nick’s Roast Beef Truck, 6250 Baltimore Ave., Yeadon
• The Cow and the Curd, 6250 Baltimore Ave., Yeadon
• Margie’s Cuisine LLC, 880 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford
Governmental entities are not obligated to report the results of food-safety inspections to the public.
