LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Zippy’s, the Hawaii-based chain of restaurants and bakeries, is closing one of its Las Vegas locations a little over a year after it first opened.
The restaurant announced Monday that the last day of service for the Zippy’s at Hualapai and Peace ways is Sunday, June 28.
“This decision was not made lightly – the decision to close Hualapai Way is a strategic decision in Zippy’s continued growth plans,” reads a statement shared on social media.
All employees from the Hualapai location have accepted positions at other Zippy’s in the Las Vegas valley.
Often known as the Ninth Island, Las Vegas marked Zippy’s first market in the continental U.S. The restaurant expanded rapidly, growing to five locations across the region. The Hualapai Way location opened in March last year.
The chain reassured patrons that the remaining four locations are not in danger of closing.
“We are encouraged by the continued success of our other Las Vegas locations and remain committed to serving the community here in Southern Nevada,” Zippy’s said. “We continue to explore other locations for Zippy’s in the area, as well as states beyond.”
The closest Zippy’s are now the locations on Charleston Boulevard near the 215 Beltway, and on Badura Avenue near Rainbow Boulevard and Arroyo Crossing Parkway.
