COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The former home of a beloved grocery store in Columbia may soon become a first in the Midlands.
Cason Development said Wednesday that Sprouts Farmer Market is set to come to Columbia as an anchor store at its Devine Crossing development.

The development is located on the corner of Devine Street and Kilbourne Road, the former home of a Piggly Wiggly store commonly known as the “Social Pig.” The more than 3.2-acre property at 3818 Devine Street was sold to Cason last May for a little over $7 million.
“The Social Pig holds a lot of memories for this community, and we’re proud to help write its next chapter,” Cason said in a social media post.
It would mark the first Sprouts location in the Midlands. The grocery chain, known for its focus on fresh and organic food, has two other locations in South Carolina in Greenville and Simpsonville.
Cason added that the Columbia Sprouts store is planning to open in 2027.
