Some chains make fast food exceedingly difficult to resist.
Take Habit Burger & Grill. The name feels like a gleeful nod at our addiction. The brand happily brags that it was born in 1969 “in sunny Southern California,” where so many Idaho transplants formerly called home.
Now the West Coast burger concept is launching its third Boise-area location. And worst, er, best of all? The new store, at the Ten Mile Crossing development, is offering a free-meal preview of its burgers cooked over open flame.
Our waistlines are cooked, too.
Habit Burger’s grand opening at 445 S. Innovation Lane starts at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14. But before that, folks can pop in for four Free Charburger Day events.
On Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13, the first 200 guests at 11 a.m., or at 5 p.m., get a free Charburger, french fries and drink. There is one catch: You need to join the MyHabit rewards program to save your spot for this “first taste,” according to a press release.
The BBQ Bacon Char, according to Habit Burger & Grill, is “freshly chargrilled beef patty topped with American cheese, hickory-smoked bacon, BBQ sauce, crispy onion tanglers, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, pickles, and mayo on a toasted seeded bun.”
“We’re pumped to bring Habit to the Ten Mile neighborhood and give the community another place to grab fresh food made the Habit way,” the chain’s executive chef, Jason Triail, said in a prepared statement. “We’ve seen such a great response from our Meridian and Nampa restaurants, so Ten Mile felt like a great fit. We’re looking forward to firing up the grill, getting some fresh food out and making this a spot the neighborhood can call their own.”
The new restaurant will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. You can sit down and eat there, or you can order a salad for takeout. (Yes, Habit Burger sells salads!)
For Habit, though, burgers are the beef of the business. It operates almost 400 restaurants in 15 states.
“Recently named USA Today 10Best’s #1 Burger for the third consecutive year and #1 Fast Casual Restaurant for the second year in a row,” Habit has earned “a devoted following,” it says, “for its Charburgers, cooked to order over an open flame. Since then, the menu has grown far beyond burgers, offering a fresh take on California-inspired flavors. Guests can choose from a meaningful selection of handcrafted sandwiches, crisp salad bowls topped with hot, chargrilled chicken, and creamy handspun shakes.”
