Baklava pancakes from Brookline Lunch, which is expanding to South Boston in late September.
– Handout
A long-running Palestinian-owned Cambridge restaurant is expanding to South Boston and, thankfully, there are plenty of pancakes. The new menu features favorites from the first location’s menu, like the beloved baklava pancakes, and also a handful of Southie-only newcomers. The new banana Biscoff pancakes are beauties filled with banana and white chocolate, topped with whipped cream and crumbled Biscoff shortbread cookies. Other new dishes include a giant breakfast burrito and labna toast served with Palestinian salad. Wash the goodies down with a Karaz iced latte—a mix of two shots of espresso, housemade cherry syrup, and vanilla cold foam topped with a candied cherry.
Opening date: Late September
108 L St., South Boston

A popular chicken wings spot in Newton Corner is spreading its wings with a second location in Watertown. Buff’s Pub—a 1976-founded restaurant dishing out pub grub and, of course, wings and tenders—is opening within the former home of Belle’s Burgers and Ice Cream. After over 20 years of service, Belle’s last day of service is Friday. Fly over to Instagram to keep tabs on the spot’s upcoming opening date, then get ready to celebrate with a full order of wings (a whopping 20), preferably with some of the restaurant’s three varieties of buffalo sauce.
Opening date: Fall
46 Arsenal St., Watertown

Perk up at this new Quincy coffee shop where the drinks blur the line between caffeine and cups of drinkable art. Indie and woman-owned Grey’s Coffee serves small-batch gourmet lattes and matcha ranging from the classic—smooth cold brew, buzzy Americanos—to the creative, like a cookie butter latte with vanilla cold foam and the iced sticky bun chai latte. Check out the rotating special editions, with the current apple crisp dirty soda (a mix of ginger ale, apple cider, house-made spiced syrup, and vanilla cold foam) as the latest drinkable dessert.
Open Now (August)
1237 Hancock St., Quincy

We might be entering the fall of froyo if this Seaport newcomer is any proof. This Madrid-founded brand, with stores in 30 cities worldwide, lures long lines thanks to its artisanal treats. The frozen yogurt is crafted using milk and goat’s milk kefir—a fermented dairy-based drink—and draws from Mediterranean inspirations with flourishes of French pastry-like toppings. The brand’s light and creamy confections include dulce de leche, baklava pistachio, and matcha flavors plus a vegan guava sorbet. The viral mykataifi topping, blends crisp shredded phyllo dough with pistachio cream for a dreamy, Dubai-chocolate like bite.
Opening date: Sept. 25
The Current, 100 Seaport Blvd., Seaport
The nham khao salad and other dishes during a Lao pop-up by Phaeng and Phiu chef Veo Robert. (Danielle Parhizkaran/Globe Staff)
Chef Veo Robert’s Phaeng & Phiu popup is like a love letter to the Laotian flavors of his upbringing, and his cuisine has already won fans all over the city. His new residency at Shore Leave is a sure thing, bringing Phaeng & Phiu cuisine to the tropical spot five nights a week through Dec. 31. Find krapow gai dumplings (with ground chicken, toasted chili oil, and fried basil), plus green papaya salad, and fried chicken wings with a sauce that combines chili jam with padaek (a fermented fish condiment). Some dishes mix local ingredients with far-flung inspirations, like the Pad Kee Mao Talay dish, with New England seafood, rice noodles, chili oyster sauce, and basil. The delightful spice of the dishes is a kicking counterpoint to Shore Leave’s sweet and tropical cocktails.
Event Details: Tuesdays through Sundays until Dec. 21 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
