Jersey Mike’s Subs, the sandwich brand rooted in Point Pleasant on the Jersey Shore, has entered English football as the new title sponsor of the EFL Trophy.
The sponsorship will run through the end of the 2030-31 season and comes as Jersey Mike’s prepares for its debut in the United Kingdom. The company said its first U.K. restaurant is expected to open later this year on Argyll Street, off Oxford Circus in London.
The partnership gives Jersey Mike’s a prominent platform in English football as the company introduces its brand to U.K. consumers. The EFL Trophy, a competition featuring English Football League clubs and academy players from Premier League and Championship teams, has become a developmental stage for young players.
Jersey Mike’s said the competition aligns with its emphasis on community engagement and grassroots connections. The brand, widely known in the United States and Canada, operates more than 3,300 stores.
The company’s history began with a single neighborhood sub shop in Point Pleasant in 1956. Peter Cancro bought the original storefront at age 17 and later helped build the brand into a North American franchise system.
Jersey Mike’s said the EFL Trophy sponsorship will help it connect with football fans at both the grassroots and professional levels as it begins building its presence in the U.K.
The company also pointed to the Trophy’s role in player development. According to the release, 123 EFL Academy players made their professional debuts in the competition during the 2025-26 season.
The competition also feeds into England’s national team pipeline. The release said 12 members of the England squad that reached the semifinal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup made their professional debuts in the Trophy, including Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Reece James.
The sponsorship adds another international brand-building step for Jersey Mike’s as it moves beyond its North American footprint and prepares to introduce its subs to customers in one of London’s busiest retail districts.
