Oregon restaurant known for artisan burgers selling downtown Eugene post

Cornucopia listed its downtown Eugene location for sale weeks after shutting the doors on its Springfield restaurant. Cornucopia will remain open on Fifth Avenue for the time being.

Cornucopia, a small local chain of restaurants known for its artisan burgers and happy hour, has been a mainstay with multiple locations across Eugene and Springfield. Its first full-service restaurant location, Cornucopia Restaurant on 17th Avenue, opened 25 years ago.

In June, Cornucopia posted to Facebook saying owners were exploring “options for Cornucopia’s future, including the potential sale of one or more of our restaurant locations.” That post was not a closing announcement, but said Cornucopia was seeking “the right path forward — one that honors our staff, our guests and the legacy we have all built together.”

Two months later, it announced that Cornucopia Main Street’s last day of business would be Aug. 16, followed by the announcement of the Fifth Avenue location’s sale listing on Sept. 3.

Cornucopia Main Street Kitchen Manager Samantha Gray previously told The Register-Guard that the Springfield closure was prompted by the retirement of one of the owners.

According to listings on BuyBizSell and LoopNet, the asking price for the Fifth Avenue location is $150,000 with another $95,000 ask to include all furniture, fixtures and equipment.

“For now, we are still very much open and committed to serving you,” Cornucopia’s Sept. 3 Facebook post said. “We all love and appreciate your continued support.”

The Facebook post goes on to say the team is excited for the first Oregon Ducks game of the season against Boise State Sept. 5. Cornucopia opened early, at 10:30 a.m., for the home game at Autzen Stadium.

The Cornucopia Bar and Burgers opened at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Pearl Street in 2009. It was the second location opened by co-founders and owners Alison Albrecht and Nils Stark, according to past reporting by The Register-Guard.
