2 men arrested after carjackings outside Milwaukee-area chicken restaurants
Two Milwaukee men were arrested, accused of carjacking employees at two chicken restaurants on Capitol Drive on consecutive nights, with police using drone technology to track them down

Two Milwaukee men were arrested, accused of carjacking employees at two chicken restaurants on Capitol Drive on consecutive nights, with police using drone technology to locate and apprehend the suspects.
The first incident occurred just after 2 a.m. on April 26 at the Raising Cane’s in Brookfield, where an employee reported that two men stole his car at gunpoint.
The following night, an employee at Crazy Chicken, located at 78th Street and Capitol Drive in Milwaukee, was also carjacked at gunpoint as she left work.
When the car stolen in the Crazy Chicken robbery was found near 70th Street and Hope Avenue, just a block from where the Raising Cane’s stolen car had been abandoned the day before, police suspected the two incidents were connected. Brookfield police deployed a drone to monitor the area where the second stolen car was parked, leading to the arrests of 21-year-old Adrian Thomas and 17-year-old Quntae Russell. Police said Russell was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest.
According to a search warrant in the Brookfield case, Russell told police he committed the carjacking because he had walked to the restaurant and buses were no longer running, saying, “he didn’t want to walk back home.”
Brookfield police have yet to respond to inquiries about their drone program used in this case.
Drones have been gaining more regular use in law enforcement, including by Milwaukee police. Their dashboard shows drones being used for various calls, such as drunk drivers, traffic hazards, and shooting reports from ShotSpotter technology.
The two suspects are facing armed robbery charges in Milwaukee County. Despite Russell’s confession detailed in the Milwaukee County complaint, they have not yet been charged in Waukesha County for the Brookfield robbery.
