O’Charley’s employees at a Virginia location confirmed their restaurant was closing, while other employees in Illinois and Florida declined to comment.
WASHINGTON — O’Charley’s Restaurant & Bar is reportedly closing nearly all its remaining locations in the U.S, according to some restaurant employees and multiple media reports.
The Nashville-based restaurant chain operates 49 company-owned locations and three franchise restaurants across the country. Employees at one Virginia location confirmed their restaurant was closing, while another location in Tennessee said they hadn’t learned of any news from corporate.
Several media outlets also confirmed closures with employees in Middle Tennessee locations. The company has not officially announced closures. But several Tennessee restaurants confirmed to The Tennessean their locations would close at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
According to Nation’s Restaurant News, an employee at a franchised location in Niles, Ohio, confirmed to the outlet that it would stay open “as long as possible” and would likely permanently close between Sept. 27 and Oct. 4.
O’Charley’s has also deactivated its social media accounts and did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Their website was also deactivated Wednesday.
It’s unclear if the company’s franchised locations will also be closing.
Employees in Illinois and Florida locations declined to comment about the reports of the chain closing. When calling current locations, an automated welcome message plays saying, “Amazing things are happening here, and we’re looking for more great people to join our team.”
Online job applications were also still available, as of Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET
The Nashville-based company offers Southern comfort food and has been opened since 1971.
Cannae Holdings, which has a 65.4% equity ownership, announced in its latest quarterly results that O’Charley’s “continued to experience challenges in maintaining its traffic” and resulted in a 13% decline in sales in the last quarter.
Four O’Charley’s locations closed earlier this year.
