September health inspections: Central Oregon Donut Company, Get Roasted Coffee and more

Five restaurants received perfect scores for health inspections across Jefferson County in September.

The inspections focus on food sources, cooking and holding temperatures of food, personal hygiene of food handlers and contaminated or dirty equipment, according to Jefferson County Public Health’s website. The surprise inspections are used to help prevent injury or illness from eating from public kitchens and restaurants.

The Oregon Secretary of State website says any restaurant that scores below 70 in an unannounced inspection can be closed if a second inspection within 30 days does not bring the score above 70.

Perfect scores

Central Oregon Donut Company at 5133 S.W. Elbe Drive in Madras received a perfect score, continuing its track record.

Coppers Coffee Co. at 223 N.E. Cowden Drive in Madras also received a perfect score this month.

Get Roasted Coffee is located at 1016 U.S. 97 in Madras. There were no corrections noted in the most recent inspection.

The Jefferson County Community & Senior Center received a perfect score this month. The only correction noted in the September 2026 inspection was the storage location of whole eggs, which were moved to the bottom shelf to correct the issue. The community and senior center is located at 860 S.W Madison St. in Madras.

Lucy’s Taco Shop at 742 N.E. Fourth St. in Madras received its first perfect score this month.

Imperfect score: Madras Pub & Deli

As of Sept. 29, only one imperfect score was reported online by Jefferson County Public Health.

The Madras Pub & Deli at 118 S.W. Fifth St. in Madras scored a 95 this month.

The inspection report said that home-canned salsa and pickles were in the kitchen, which is not allowed. No unapproved sources, or items prepared in a private home, can be used in restaurants.
