I’ve always heard people rave about oxtail and have seen restaurants promote it when they have it, but frankly, I hesitated to try it because I was turned off by the name.
My husband and I recently ate at Divine9 in Bossier City, a casual Vietnamese restaurant that serves delicious and authentic dishes.

I ordered stir-fry lemongrass beef with white rice. The meat was cooked with lots of onions and some bok choy and lemongrass, served with fresh cucumber and tomato slices. The savory sauce was slightly sweet and the dish came in a plentiful portion.
My husband ordered oxtail pho noodle soup, so I was determined to finally have the courage to try it. Not only was the meat melt-in-your-mouth good, but the pho broth was incredible and I kept asking to try more.
Pho is served with cilantro, lime wedges, bean sprouts and jalapenos on the side.
It turns out oxtail originally came only from the tail of an ox, but now it is often from cattle. The bone is left in for cooking, creating a healthy, collagen-rich and almost addictive broth, which is also made with other vegetables and spices.
I’m not sure which kind of oxtail I had, but I would definitely try it again.
Divine9 has many other options on the menu too, from vermicelli noodle dishes like grilled pork and vegetarian.

They have spring rolls, egg rolls, crab rangoon and potstickers for appetizers, among others.
Other meal categories are pad thai, fried rice and steamed rice dishes.
The menu lists special wok meals like General Tso chicken, shrimp curry, lo mein and others.
At Divine9, servers will take your order at your booth or table or you can order to-go meals at the counter.
