LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) — Three men were stabbed during a dispute over food on the Lower East Side early Wednesday morning, according to police.
The stabbing happened near Delancey Street and Bowery at around 1:13 a.m.
Police say the suspect approached a 26-year-old man and began arguing with him over food before stabbing him in the stomach.
A witness said the dispute began inside a grocery store, with the suspect asking for food or money.
Two other men, who appeared to be friends of the 26-year-old victim, tried to break up the altercation but were also stabbed.
A 21-year-old man was stabbed in the left shoulder and a 19-year-old man was stabbed in the left arm.
All three victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
Police are searching for the suspect, who was described as a man with dreadlocks wearing all black and a top hat.
Officials say he fled westbound on Delancey Street.
No arrests have been made and the weapon has not been recovered.
