Tomorrow’s News Today – Atlanta: [EXCLUSIVE] Private Equity-Backed Fast Casual Mediterranean Chain Opening in Sandy Springs and Vinings

Roti Modern Mediterranean, a growing quick-serve Mediterranean fast-casual chain, is looking to grow its presence in metro Atlanta.  The new-to-market restaurant is – in addition to our earlier reported location in Cumming – planning new locations in Sandy Springs and Vinings.  

In Sandy Springs, Roti is opening in Abernathy Square, the Publix-anchored shopping center at the corner of Abernathy and Roswell Roads in Sandy Springs.  

The new restaurant will occupy a roughly 2,300 square foot space (currently two separate suites previously occupied by  Engel & Völkers Real Estate Advisors and Fueld Stir Fry & Salads ) between Starbucks and Salon Skanda.

In Abernathy Square, Roti joins a roster of new food options that includes City Barbeque, Kyuramen, Bawarchi Indian Restaurant, Jet’s Pizza, Hardees, Subway, Starbucks, and Poke Bar, among others.  A planned Portillo’s is no longer opening.

In Vinings, Roti is opening at the new Shops at Vinings Ridge (2747 Paces Ferry Road), where it will occupy a 1,200 square foot space.   The quick-serve eatery will join FedEx Office, Just Brunch, Pacific Dental, and Allure Nail Bar in the upcoming strip center. 

ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported September 10 that Roti is opening its first traditional unit in metro Atlanta in Forsyth Town Center, the new Whole Foods Market-anchored development in Cumming.  

The Roti restaurant business started in Chicago in 2007, and at its peak in 2020, was comprised of 42 restaurants across six markets.  After closing about a third of its locations in 2021, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024, was acquired in 2025 by Atlanta-based private equity firm BroadPeak Capital, and today, is headquartered in Sandy Springs.    

The firm, already the owner of Edible [Arrangements], inserted Roti into its holding company “Edible Brands.”  In addition to Edible and Roti, the group also includes Edibles.com, a THC retailer that opened a brick-and-mortar store near the Beltline in Inman Park this past April.    

Edible recently began work on a former dry cleaner at 4314 Roswell Road in Chastain Park that it purchased in 2024 and plans to turn into an experiential flagship location of sorts.  

For its part, Roti currently includes sixteen traditional locations across three markets.  The chain opened a first for the brand ghost kitchen unit in Smyrna this past January and also operates a mini counter location within Mercedes-Benz Stadium.   

Although Roti predates what we know today as Cava by several years, it’s a tiny player in the Mediterranean quick-serve landscape today. Cava, which opened its first fast-casual location in 2011, today counts nearly 500 units, including 27 in Georgia.  Cava has an existing location about two miles away from the upcoming Sandy Springs Roti along Perimeter Center West in the REI / Goodwill shopping center, and another not far from the Vinings Roti at the corner of Akers Mill Road and Cobb Parkway.
