Yelp dropped its Best New Restaurants of 2026, revealing the country’s must-visit new dining hot spots — based on massive review data and local buzz.
The platform identified that steakhouses and brunch spots were two of this year’s “hottest dining trends.” Yelp searches for “steak near me” increased 59% over the last year alone and hit an all-time high in August 2026.
And they also found a major surge in Indian cuisine, with searches for “Indian bowls” up 135% and “Indian food buffet near me” rising 459% compared to the previous 12-month period.
The New York hotspot taking the #3 spot on the list is Limusina, a new Mexican restaurant by Quality Branded — the restaurant group behind Bad Roman, Quality Bistro and Twin Tails.
And one other new NYC dining spot came in at #10: Ambassadors Clubhouse.
Here are the top 5 new restaurants nationwide according to Yelp, along with NYC’s second entry in the top 10:
1. Filthy Animal – Tempe, Arizona

Named after the iconic Home Alone line, the jungle-themed restaurant transformed a former P.F. Chang’s into an open fire pit seafood and steak restaurant. The animal print decor and dim lighting creates a “sexy” and “moody” ambiance, according to multiple Yelp users.
“There are Asian, Mexican, and tropical influences, but it’s a primal style of cooking,” shared a reviewer on Yelp. The cocktails were also frequently commended, along with the tomato butter.
2. Firstborn – Los Angeles, California

The Chinese-American restaurant blends chef-owner Anthony Wang’s European training to deliver this dining experience. The high-value prix-fixe menu comes in at $68, including standouts like caviar blinis and duck sausage. Wang’s inspiration was “rooted in nostalgia from my upbringing,” he told Yelp.
The Chongqing Fried Chicken is apparently a “must-try” along with sides like the savory duck fat rice.
3. Limusina – New York, New York

Located in Hudson Yards, this new Mexican restaurant was a transformed parking garage and was described by Yelpers as “sexy” and “chic.” Featuring Art-Deco details, its creative director shared, “We wanted it to feel like you were being transported into a new experience.” The restaurant comes from Quality Branded, the group behind Don Angie and Bad Roman.
The fan-favorite menu item is the Long-Bone Short Rib Quesabirria and seafood lovers recommend the Red Snapper Tacos. The menu gives mexican classics a creative twist, with dishes like truffle machete quesadillas and pork belly chicharrón.
“Limusina is good for flashy post-work drinks near Hudson Yards,” wrote Molly Fitzpatrick from Infatuation.
4. Eylan – Menlo Park, California

This Indian restaurant features patterned tiles and a live fire grill showcasing Michelin Bib Gourmand selections. The prix-fixe choices include sigdi (grilled) family-style dishes, with the Taro Root Chaat and pani puri-style Chilled Green Chaas serving as the two Yelp standouts.
Ben L. on Reddit described the meal as “not your typical Indian food that’s heavy and dense” and said it was light and well-balanced but still packed with flavor. He also said it was a “really sexy vibe” that had great cocktails and energy.
5. Lilo – Carlsbad, California

Lilo is a tasting menu experience and earned a Michelin star within its first two months for its multi-course seafood. Sourced from local farms with Japanese influences, one diner described it as a “choreographed experimentation with flavors.” Guests enjoy about a dozen courses prepared at the chef’s counter, finishing the evening with tea by the fire pit and a signed souvenir menu.
The sweet-and-salty N25 Kaluga Caviar atop ice cream flavored with orgeat (a floral almond syrup) is a standout dish, along with the Santa Barbara Sea Urchin with English pea and rose geranium.
10. Ambassadors Clubhouse – New York, New York

The other NYC restaurant to make Yelp’s top 10 is Ambassadors Clubhouse. Yelpers note that securing a reservation is nearly impossible, but well worth the effort. The family-owned spot earned a Michelin star in London for its blend of Northern Indian cuisine and Punjabi royalty inspiration. Siblings Jyotin, Karam, and Sunaina Sethi named the restaurant in honor of their grandfather, a former Indian ambassador.
Yelp reviews recommend trying the Beetroot Raj Kachori Chaat and the Original BBQ Butter Chicken Chops.
“I can’t remember putting this much effort into getting a reservation anywhere in New York City,” said @thecarboholic on Instagram, who spent seven months setting alarms to snag a midday reservation. According to her, it was well worth it. “This is one of the most ornate and elegant restaurants I’ve been to in NYC,” she told her followers.
And just two weeks ago, Taylor Swift and husband Travis Kelce were spotted there on a romantic date night.
