DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – Four Dubuque restaurants are competing in a local fundraising competition while raising money for the Salvation Army’s food pantry in a new event called “Battle of the Burgers.”

The fundraiser will take place May 11 through June 5, with residents visiting participating restaurants, trying their competition burger, and voting for their favorite via QR codes at tables or on posters inside each location.

All proceeds benefit the Salvation Army of Dubuque’s food pantry, which serves an average of 1,140 people in need each month.

The following restaurants will be participating, including each burger:

“This is a truly community-focused event that we are really looking forward to,” said Capt. Dave Amick of the Salvation Army of Dubuque. “It’s an opportunity to bring people together for a unique culinary experience, thanks to the creativity and competitive spirit of the participating restaurants. We’re very grateful to Kelly’s Café, Culvers, SONIC, and The Dog House for their support – we’re confident that the Battle of the Burgers will generate lots of donations to our food pantry.”
