KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A staple of the Crossroads Arts District’s dining and nightlife scene is shutting its doors for good, citing a shift in the area.
Parlor KC, the multi-level food hall that opened on the corner of 19th and Locust streets in 2018, announced it will officially close on Saturday, Aug. 22. The venue plans to serve food and drinks until 10 p.m. for its final service, according to an announcement shared on Instagram.
For nearly eight years, Parlor served as a launchpad for up-and-coming culinary talent and a community gathering space.
“Parlor has been a place to gather, eat, drink, celebrate and experience some of the best local food and talent Kansas City has to offer,” the owners shared on social media. “We’ve watched concepts come and go, celebrated countless milestones, hosted unforgettable nights and, most importantly, welcomed so many of you through our doors.”
The decision to close comes as the neighborhood landscape continues to shift, according to ownership. The owners pointed to a changing local environment and a sharp decline in foot traffic as the driving forces behind the closure.
“We are incredibly grateful for every guest, chef, bartender, staff member, tenant and partner who helped make Parlor what it was,” the owners wrote.
Before the lights go out on Saturday night, fans and neighborhood regulars are being invited to stop by for “one last lap around the hall” and a final farewell toast.
“Stop in, grab your favorite food, have a drink… and help us send Parlor off the way it deserves,” the post concluded. “Thank you, Kansas City, for nearly eight incredible years.”
A popular Kansas City food hall is ending its run in the Crossroads District.

They made the decision to close when realizing “the environment around” them changed. They said Parlor experienced a significant drop in customers.
“We are incredibly grateful for every guest, chef, bartender, staff member, tenant and partner who helped make Parlor what it was,” the owners shared.
Fans are invited to grab one last drink before closing Saturday night.
“Stop in, grab your favorite food, have a drink, take one last lap around the hall and help us send Parlor off the way it deserves. Thank you, Kansas City, for nearly eight incredible years,” the owners posted.
