Bridgewater Public House will host an event on Oct. 5, while Texas Roadhouse will host a second event on Oct. 8. Here’s how you can help a good cause by dining out.

YORK, Pa. — September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about food insecurity and inspire community action.

In York County, nearly 60,000 people, including one in seven children, face food insecurity, according to statistics gathered by The Food Trust.

Two York County restaurants are hosting “dine to donate” events this fall to raise awareness – and raise food and funds – for the York County Food Bank (YCFB).

On Monday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Bridgewater Public House, located at 601 Chestnut Hill Road in York, will host the first event.

The second event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Octo. 8 at Texas Roadhouse, 1510 Mt. Zion Road, York.

Supporters are encouraged to mention the York County Food Bank when dining during these events, so a percentage of the meal ticket will be donated to the YCFB.

Dine‑outers can feel proud knowing their meal out is pulling double duty — they enjoy skipping the dishes while supporting restaurants that give back to the community.

A simple act of dining out strengthens the local food network.

“When restaurants and their guests join the fight against hunger, they help build a stronger, more resilient community for everyone,” said York County Food Bank president at CEO Jennifer Brillhart. “When their community thrives, so do they. No neighbor should go hungry. These restaurants don’t just serve meals, they serve hope.”

Every month, the YCFB serves over 40,000 individuals throughout York County, and 91% of every dollar raised directly supports its mission to increase dignified access to nutritious food and community resources.
