Chicago’s downtown culinary scene is gaining a new standout destination this month, combining a luxurious dining experience with riverfront views.
Carlyle Club has officially opened its doors at the historic Reid Murdoch Building (316 N Clark St.) in one of the most highly anticipated local restaurant openings of fall 2026.
Here’s an inside look at your new go-to spot for cocktails, sushi, and everything in between.
Inside Carlyle Club

Carlyle Club is the latest concept from restaurateur Steve Gogolab and Chef Partner Jakob Peterson, the team behind popular Italian steakhouse Dēliz in Wicker Park.
Described as an “all-day restaurant and social destination,” Carlyle Club promises a curated experience rooted in classic dishes elevated with contemporary flair.
“Our goal was to create the kind of restaurant you can use in a lot of different ways,” said Gogolab. “You can come in for lunch, meet someone for a drink, stay for dinner or make a night of it.”
Menu highlights include charcoal-grilled Wagyu, housemade sushi and sashimi, dry-aged steaks, lobster, and pasta dishes.

On the beverage front, standouts include the “CC Martini,” an extra-dirty take on the classic drink featuring olive oil-infused vodka, house olive brine, and olive distillate.
For an ultra-boozy sip, guests can opt for “The Murdoch,” a blend of butter-washed whiskey and coconut demerara syrup.
Carlyle Club also boasts an expertly crafted wine program, spearheaded by veteran Chicago wine director Amy Luchten.
Carlyle Club’s location in the more than 100-year-old Reid Murdoch building contextualizes the restaurant within Chicago’s rich architectural history.
The space incorporates original concrete columns and Chicago brick features, plus a sprawling riverfront patio and other design elements reflecting the building’s past.
“The setting and history of the Reid Murdoch Building gave us an incredible foundation, and we built the experience around that.“
