Even for a fast-food junkie, it might be a stretch to claim you love the food at Jack-in-the-Box.
However, the chain’s extended hours? Those are special. Some of us get late-night cravings on weekends.
But the moonlit drive-thru runs are on track to vanish at the longtime Jack-in-the-Box at 7040 W. State St. in Boise, near the intersection with Glenwood Street.
Utah-based chain Mo’ Bettahs plans to take over and remodel the building, according to paperwork filed with the city of Boise. The latest step in the red-tape march? Permission to demolish the interior of the 2,875-square-foot restaurant “occupied previously by Jack-in-the-Box,” the project description says.
By the way, that Jack-in-the-Box hasn’t closed. It’s still slinging burgers, tacos and curly fries.

But for how long?
That detail was not immediately clear. Despite the paper trail, a Mo’ Bettahs spokesperson did not confirm that the State Street location was coming — or offer any timeline.
As fans of the Hawaiian-style quick-service chain know, Mo’ Bettahs has expanded steadily into the Treasure Valley in recent years. And it’s certainly not averse to taking over old fast-food restaurants. In Boise, Mo’ Bettahs moved into a former Del Taco late last year at 1306 S. Broadway Ave.
Mo’ Bettahs opened its first Eagle restaurant at 722 S. Edgewood Lane in early 2026. It has a new store planned in Kuna that could open this year. And it also has signed a lease at the District at Ten Mile, which would be its third Meridian location.
In the meantime? Better grab a few of those Bacon Double Smashed Jack Burgers while you can. Or start getting used to another Jack-in-the-Box — like the one less than two miles away at 3220 W. State St.
