When Stormy Blue, a California native and certified foodie, moved to Hampton Roads 10 years ago, she didn’t know what to expect from the culinary scene. Now, she knows it intimately—and even helps shape its future.
With her passion for all things food and drink, along with her exuberant personality, it was only natural that she began sharing about her excursions to local restaurants on Instagram. The internet took notice, and she quickly amassed a significant following after a few viral posts. Today, with over 150,000 ardent “Storm Chasers” supporting her, Blue has not only become a go-to for recs but a laudable figure in her community.
“Being able to support local businesses in a meaningful way is incredibly rewarding,” Blue says. “I’ve had owners tell me they were close to closing before a feature or that they were able to leave a second job because of the increased business. That kind of impact is something I never take lightly. The Storm Chaser community is incredibly supportive, and I’m grateful for the trust they place in me.”
If you’re hungry for some Stormy Blue-approved spots this summer, she recommends Virginia Beach’s The Porch on Long Creek, The Back Deck, Krave, and The Shack on 8th—all with a side of incredible ocean views.
