LOWELL, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — To start the 20th Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championship presented by P&G, a donation of $20,000 and 40,000 pounds of protein were presented to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.
A check presentation was held for a joint donation of $20,000 from Walmart and Tyson Foods for the NWA Food Bank. Representatives from Tyson also announced a donation of 40,000 pounds of Tyson Foods protein.
“We celebrated 20 years of partnering with the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank and the LPGA,” said Brandon Hurlbut, Head of Sales for Poultry at Tyson Foods. “It’s a consistency that we’ve committed to as an organization. Our local team members, our local community, and how all that comes together, and then we get to celebrate together at the event.”

Following the presentation, Tyson employees spent some time at the food bank packing holiday boxes of food to send to families in need.
“Here in Northwest Arkansas, we have over 113,000 people that are food insecure, and these holiday boxes will help those families to just celebrate together here for the Thanksgiving season,” said Michelle Mullins, Director of Food Loss and Waste at Tyson Foods.
The protein products donated during the event will be distributed locally by the NWA Food Bank, according to Tyson representatives.
