A new seafood restaurant opened this week in Bossier City, and you have the option between grilled or fried food.

When I visited Thiago’s Seafood restaurant, I went for the combination plate of fish and shrimp. You can choose jumbo or butterfly and I ordered the latter.

I was a little hesitant because of a statement on the menu that says shrimp and fish may be imported. But when I asked, the manager told me the fish was local catfish and the shrimp were from the Gulf.

The combination plates also include oysters, which can be grilled or fried.

Each plate comes with two sides, and I selected red beans and rice and fried okra. Other sides include dirty rice, potato salad, fried roll, coleslaw, green beans, fries, and hush puppies.

Thiago’s is a casual place, where you order at the counter and select your own table or booth. They are open everyday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and they don’t serve alcohol. Most of the soda, tea, water and other choices come in bottles.

I went for lunch with no expectations and came away impressed with the food and the service. Both of the sides tasted as authentic as possible and the fried seafood with a light and crispy breading was delicious too – as was the cocktail sauce. They also have tartar sauce plus barbecue, zesty, honey mustard, thousand island, Caesar, ranch and Italian sauce.

Greek restaurant popular in Shreveport for almost 30 years will open another location

One item on the menu that looks interesting is a combo plate with one or two fish and either shrimp or chicken fried rice. Two other items that caught my eye were popcorn shrimp and the wings, which I will probably try on my next trip.

Thiago’s Seafood restaurant is easy to find. It sits near I-20 on the corner of Barksdale Blvd. at 1030 Central Park Dr. in Bossier City.
