Columbus has landed on another national restaurant list, and this time it’s an Italian Village spot that’s getting the attention.

Mezcla was named the No. 8 best new restaurant in the country in Yelp’s 2026 Best New Restaurants ranking. The annual list includes 25 restaurants from around the country, with the rankings based on factors including customer ratings and review volume.

Located at 1022 Summit St., Mezcla originally opened in April 2025 and serves what Yelp describes as upscale Mexican and tapas-style Latin American cuisine. Yelp specifically highlighted the restaurant’s chic atmosphere, cocktails and shareable menu.

The restaurant also had a bit of a rocky 2026.

Mezcla was forced to close for several months after a vehicle crashed into the building, but it reopened this summer and has been back in action since.

The menu leans into modern takes on Mexican and Latin American flavors, with dishes like ceviche, tacos, tostadas, and other small plates designed to share. The cocktail program is also a big part of the experience, making it a pretty natural fit for a date night or dinner where you want to order a bunch of things and pass them around.

Yelp’s list puts Mezcla alongside restaurants from some of the country’s biggest food cities, including New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The No. 1 spot went to Filthy Animal in Tempe, Arizona, while other top-10 restaurants included Firstborn in Los Angeles, Limusina in New York City and 1587 Prime in Kansas City.

“We’re so honored to be included alongside so many other incredible restaurants doing such cool things,” the restaurant shared on Instagram. “Being able to represent Mezcla and showcase Columbus through the food and experiences we create is something we’re truly proud of.”

And Mezcla wasn’t just the highest-ranked Ohio restaurant on the list. It was the only Ohio restaurant to make the 25-restaurant ranking.

So, if you’ve been meaning to go for a visit, Yelp has given you another reason to make the reservation.
