Three popular restaurants have reopened this year in Norfolk.
Crudo Nudo
Crudo Nudo, in the Ghent neighborhood, reopened in February after being closed for more than a year because of a two-alarm fire.
The Spanish tapas restaurant offers dishes such as jamon (ham) croquettes, shrimp black rice and house-made pastas. Customers can sip $6 espresso martinis and more during happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, according to the restaurant’s social media. Brunch is also available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

My Mama’s Kitchen
My Mama’s Kitchen closed in October 2023 after 11 years on Shore Drive, near Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek. The restaurant moved to a bigger location about five minutes away. Owner Moe Stevenson kept patrons updated on social media as he got the place ready, and in May he announced a soft opening.
The menu ranges from chicken wings to catfish to barbecue ribs. It also includes Southern fare such as fried green tomatoes, chicken and waffles, and red beans and rice served with andouille sausage. Brunch is available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Blackeyed Peas Restaurant
Blackeyed Peas Restaurant has moved from Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach to downtown Norfolk and had its grand opening June 11.
It serves comfort food with a soulful twist, ranging from beef sausage with rice and onions to seafood boils to macaroni and cheese. It also offers a full-service bar, weekday lunch specials and Sunday soul food favorites such as oxtails, pigs’ feet and chicken and dumplings, according to a news release.
