The Laredo Center for Urban Agriculture and Sustainability (LCUAS) has unveiled the full schedule for its Food Town Laredo series, bringing together community leaders, local food advocates and residents for a month of events celebrating food, culture and healthy living.

The series, which begins this weekend, explores the cultural significance of regional foods while highlighting the produce and people behind them.

According to Food Town Laredo, community food ambassadors will lead Sabores de Nuestra Comunidad, one of the demo events, including Jessica Oquendo, an LCUAS educator; David Cárdenas, an LCUAS volunteer and rancher; Ari Garcia, founder of JM Cold Press & Juices; and Belinda Flores, founder and owner of Bella Gourmet Food.

The October schedule includes:

Saturday, Oct. 10 — Sabores de Nuestra Comunidad

Time: 10 a.m. to noon
Location: LCUAS Demonstration Farm, 1415 Chihuahua St.

Community food ambassadors will share presentations highlighting local food traditions, followed by a live cooking demonstration. Those interested in participating can scan the accompanying QR code.

Friday, Oct. 16 — World Food Day 2026

Time: Noon to 2:30 p.m.
Location: Joe A. Guerra Laredo Public Library, 1120 E. Calton Rd.

Hosted by the South Texas Food Bank, the event will focus on food security, nutrition and healthy eating.

Saturday, Oct. 17 — Farmers Market

Time: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: The Outlet Shoppes at Laredo, 1600 Water St.

Presented by Laredo Main Street, the market encourages residents to shop local while supporting area farmers and vendors.

Thursday, Oct. 22 — Food Town Film Festival

Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Location: Border Heritage Museum, 810 Zaragoza St.

Hosted by LCUAS, the Laredo Food Policy Council and the Webb County Heritage Foundation, the evening will combine food, film and community discussion.

Saturday, Oct. 24 — Pumpkin Patch Inauguration

Time: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: LCUAS Demonstration Farm, 1415 Chihuahua St.

Hosted by LCUAS and the Laredo College BASORGL Program, the event will feature a family-friendly pumpkin patch and photo opportunities.

“Come discover new ways to make healthier choices without sacrificing flavor, while learning from members of our own community,” Food Town Laredo stated.
