A longtime Mexican restaurant in Nampa closed recently for the building to get demolished.

But it plans to reopen soon — in a newly constructed facility on the same site.

Aguililla Restaurant, 324 11th Ave. North, posted video on social media in late September of its small, dated building being torn down.

“Thank you, Nampa and the surrounding communities, for being our customers for 24 years,” Aguililla wrote. “Our beloved restaurant is making way for a new one. The place may change, but the same flavors and the warmth with which we have always welcomed you will remain. See you at the new Aguililla Restaurant.”

When will it open? That announcement is expected any day. In a response to a Facebook comment Sept. 8, Aguililla indicated it was about four weeks away from launching the larger new eatery. It also wrote that the familiar Tacos Aguililla food truck also has been temporarily shuttered but will be reopened when the new restaurant debuts.

For regulars, the transition couldn’t be more convenient. Aguililla Restaurant’s new building is right behind where the old one used to be — a tortilla’s toss away. It even has the same address.

Dishing up traditional favorites such as tacos, tortas, burritos and fajitas, Aguililla is a dependable Canyon County destination for traditional Mexican cuisine. It has earned a rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars on Yelp and 4.5 out of 5 on Google.

“Top notch!” a 5-star review from a Local Guide on Google gushed earlier this year. “Always amazing chips and salsa, great food, and great service. Our go-to for Mexican food and worth the drive from Boise.”

“This restaurant is as close to California quality as (you’re) going to get,” another recent 5-star review declared. “The prices are great, and the plates are plentiful.”
