It seems like we’ve had a ton of recalls this year, and now we have another one to add to the list. If you have Gatorade in your fridge, you may want to check the bottle before you take another drink.

Gatorade is recalling more than 122,000 cases of 28-ounce bottles sold in Michigan and 36 other states. The reason is because some bottles contain food coloring that was not listed on the label.

What Gatorade Products Are Under Recall in Michgan?

The recall involves four flavors: Gatorade Lemon Lime, Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero, Gatorade Orange and Gatorade Orange Zero.

It’s because of undeclared Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6 food coloring. Sounds like no big deal. But without this listed on the bottles, it could be dangerous for some people who check labels before purchasing products.

Freep reports that Gatorade’s parent company, PepsiCo, started the recall in late-September. Then, Federal officials announced the recall October 2, and the FDA classified it as a Class II recall. We’ll get to that in a minute.

Check Your Gatorade Lot Number

Here’s the most important part if you have Gatorade in your refrigerator or pantry. The FDA shared this list of recalled lot numbers:

🚨 Check Your Gatorade Lot Number

If you have Gatorade Lemon Lime, Lemon Lime Zero, Orange or Orange Zero
in a 28-ounce bottle, check the lot number against the list below.

Recalled lot numbers:

091026 DL – JUN 07 27091126 DL – JUN 08 27072226 DT – APR 18 27072426 TL – APR 20 27073126 TL – APR 27 27072926 TL – APR 25 27073026 TL – APR 25 27081026 TL – MAY 07 27082126 OA – APR 18 27080126 DL – APR 28 27082026 DL – MAY 17 27083126 DT – JUN 07 27082526 KM – MAY 22 27090426 KM – JUN 01 27072726 TL – APR 23 27

If your bottle matches one of these lot numbers, do not drink it.
Check the recall information for instructions on returning or disposing of the product.

So What Exactly Does Class II Recall Mean?

A Class II recall is a ‘Moderate’ risk level, according to the FDA. It means using or being exposed to the recalled product could cause temporary or medically reversible health problems, or that the chances of serious health consequences are considered remote.

Class II is the second of the three classes. Class I is the most dangerous. Thankfully this is not a Class I recall, which can cause serious health problems, or even death! Yikes!

What Are the 37 States Affected by the Gatorade Recall?

And the scale of this is wild. Michigan is just one of 37 states where the recalled Gatorade was sold.

This recall is so widespread that it would have been easier to list the 13 states that are not affected by this Gatorade recall. So, if you’ve got Gatorade sitting around the house, it might be worth taking a quick look at that lot number before you reach for it.
