Camp Out Hunger is coming back to Augusta this November, and once again we’re asking Central Maine to help us make a major difference for local families.
From Monday, November 2 through Friday, November 6, we’ll be living in campers in the Sam’s Club parking lot in Augusta for five straight days, collecting food and monetary donations for the Capital Region Salvation Army.
Our goal is simple: fill two big rigs with food.
While every donation is appreciated, some of the biggest needs are the everyday staples families rely on most. Items like peanut butter, pasta, pasta sauce, cereal, oatmeal, rice, soup, canned vegetables, canned fruit, boxed meals, canned tuna and chicken, and other shelf-stable foods can make a huge impact.
These are the basics that help families put together real meals, and they’re also some of the items food pantries go through the fastest.
Cash donations are incredibly important, too. Thanks to the Salvation Army’s purchasing power and community partnerships, a $1 donation can be stretched into roughly $10 worth of food and assistance. That means even a small cash gift can go a very long way.
Camp Out Hunger is about neighbors helping neighbors. Whether you stop by with a few cans, a whole cart of groceries or a cash donation, every contribution helps.
Join us November 2 through 6 at Sam’s Club in Augusta and help us fill two big rigs for the Capital Region Salvation Army.
