A new breakfast and lunch spot is coming to Columbia Pike, taking over a space where several bars have come and gone in recent years.

Signage for an eatery called “Waffle Zone” is up at 2900 Columbia Pike, in the former home of Pike Cornerstone, Rebellion on the Pike and BrickHaus.

No menu is available yet. A representative declined to provide any more details, but he said more information will be coming in the next few weeks.

A series of watering holes have taken a try at the Columbia Pike space over the last nine years.

The building has been up at the corner of the Pike and S. Walter Reed Drive for over a century, but it got a revamp from its former Spanish Revival style when BrickHaus took over and opened a beer garden in 2017.

The makeover took more than two years, which ended up being longer than the restaurant and bar’s lifespan. It closed in late 2018.

Next to arrive was Rebellion on the Pike, a spot for craft beer, whiskey and bar bites that opened in April 2019. It had a longer run, outlasting the pandemic, but ultimately shuttered in February 2024.

The most recent establishment was Pike Cornerstone, another restaurant-and-bar concept from the current ownership of Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse across the street. Cornerstone opened in 2024 but was only open for two years, closing in May of this year.

Some say 2900 Columbia Pike is the oldest building on the Pike, dating back to 1902.
