New food on the block
Previously a po-boy of the month at Jed’s Local, 672 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, the surf and turf po-boy is now on the menu full-time. The sandwich features debris-style roast beef, fried Gulf shrimp, house-made gravy and all the fixings for $17.99.
Try the new menu at Tallulah Crafted Food and Wine Bar, 7000 Bluebonnet Blvd., Baton Rouge, which includes dishes like the roasted half chicken with Yukon gold mashed potatoes, sauteed rapini and chardonnay pan gravy.
At Soji, 5050 Government St., Baton Rouge, this month’s tiramisu is strawberry matcha, available for a limited time.

Mother’s Day brunch: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 10, at Mestizo, 2323 S. Acadian Thruway, Baton Rouge
Mestizo Louisiana Mexican Cuisine is hosting a special Mother’s Day brunch service. The menu includes breakfast tacos, pork enchiladas, house-fried chicharrons, duck empanadas, skirt steak skewers, cauliflower mash, veggie casserole and more. Festivals and bar crawls
Dolly bar crawl: 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, starting at Somewhere Neighborhood Bar, 214 Third St., Baton Rouge
Dress up and take over downtown Baton Rouge in your best Dolly Parton gear. Check in will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Somewhere, where participants will have photos and a welcome drink. From there, the group will visit Danny’s Dive Bar, O’Hara’s and Squeaky Pete’s with complimentary shots along the way before finishing the night back at Somewhere with music. Flavors of Louisiana: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Capitol Park Museum, 660 N. Fourth St., Baton Rouge
Flavors of Louisiana is a culinary and cultural event that celebrates food, music and community with an “Anything Over Rice” cook-off, tastings, live music and a Louisiana vendor marketplace. The ninth annual Baton Rouge Soul Food Festival returns for a weekend of Southern cuisine, live blues, soul, gospel and R&B music. The free, family-friendly event features a vendor village, cooking competition and Pioneer Award celebration.
