The Greater Washington County Food Bank is hosting The Taste Tour of Washington County at the Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe on Oct. 15.

The annual epicurean adventure celebrates the several fine food establishments in and around Washington County, while supporting the Greater Washington County Food Bank’s LittleMoochi School Programs.

Thirty food and beverage establishments will participate, serving appetizers, entrees, desserts, pastries, and beverages representing world cuisines.

The Greater Washington County Food Bank, in partnership with local corporate and community leaders, work together to reduce food insecurity for children in Washington County.

The LittleMoochi Snack Bag Program and the LittleMoochi Pantry Program can help to ensure students have enough to eat, potentially helping to remove barriers to their educational futures.

“Food insecurity can limit a student’s ability to learn,” said George Omiros, President and CEO of the Greater Washington County Food Bank. “The mission of the Greater Washington County Food Bank is to fight hunger every day and that means fighting hunger in schools where breakfast and lunch just aren’t enough for the rest of the day. Every student deserves the opportunity to learn without the distractions of hunger, wondering if there will be dinner on the table every evening or food available over the weekend. Our LittleMoochi programs in schools are investing in our Washington County school districts to strengthen the future of our community. An investment in our students today is an investment into the long-term strength of Washington County’s future.”

During the 2025-26 school year, over 80,000 LittleMoochi Snack Bags were delivered to nearly 10,000 students monthly in 13 Washington County school districts, at over $55,000 per month, totaling $495,000 for the year.

For food-insecure middle and high school students, a new LittleMoochi Pantry Program was launched during the 2025-26 school year to supply easy-to-prepare, shelf-stable meals for students to take home, ensuring they have access to food beyond school hours.

The Little Moochi Pantry Program debuted in the Washington and Ringgold school districts, with monthly deliveries of food items directly to participating schools. Expansion of the program to all districts in Washington County will require $85,000 per month for a total of $765,000 for the school year.

Private Chef Frank Tokach, the 2025 Taste Tour of Washington County People’s Choice Award winner for Best Chef, will return this year to continue supporting the Greater Washington County Food Bank’s mission and help local students.

“I’m just happy to be a part of this event,” he said. “As a local guy who grew up in Donora, I am glad that I can give back to the community.”

Attendees will also recognize Nate’s Chophouse as a multi-year participant to the Taste Tour event.

“Nate’s Chophouse is dedicated to giving back to our community, and what better way than to contribute to the Greater Washington County Food Bank to help families and children receive the support they need,” said Jeff Maag, Executive Chef, Nate’s Chophouse. “We are so blessed by the community for their patronage, and it makes sense to give it back.”

One hundred percent of all sponsor dollars from The Taste Tour of Washington County will underwrite the LittleMoochi School Programs.

It is the Greater Washington County Food Bank’s largest fundraising event, helping to raise needed funds to fight food insecurity in Washington County school districts.
