There is a new event on the historic Green in Chester this fall. Welcome Chester Celebrates Special Vermont Foods.
From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 19, in an old-fashioned festive fall atmosphere showcasing over two dozen scarecrows made by local business owners and residents, you have an opportunity to meet almost 20 Vermont food producers who make their living creating amazing tastes to take home and enjoy. Many will be offering samples of their products so you can try before you buy.
From honey to maple products, specialty breads, jams, pickles, candy and hot sauces to name a few, we are bringing the special flavor profiles of Vermont to you.
More vendors will also be set up on the outskirts of the Green offering crafts, woodworking, spring bulb sales from Chester Townscape, handmade walking sticks from the Chester Conservation Commission and a plethora of fiber items created by
Vermont small and micro businesses.
The Chester Historical Society, across Main Street in the Academy Building, will be open and offering cemetery tours several times that day. The Whiting Library, at 117 Main St., will be holding their annual book sale as well.
A Food Court in the center of the Green will be home to several entrepreneurs making their own take on specialty sandwiches, tacos, apple pies, maple cotton candy and more. Bring your appetite. There is no charge and the Green offers easy walking along Common Street with access to all the businesses that frame the Green.
