Man’s best friend is losing a seat at the table as one North Texas burger joint changes its pet policy. Going forward, pets are no longer allowed on the patio of Grumps Burgershttps://grumpsburgers.com/’ Glen Rose location at 119 Paluxy Smt Blvd.
The restaurant’s team made the announcement on Facebook on Thursday, saying that after many months and countless attempts to make it work—along with a “few bad apples”—it’s time.
“We love our four-legged customers (and honestly, some of them behave better than the two-legged ones), so this isn’t a post we wanted to make. Please know this decision wasn’t made because we suddenly stopped loving dogs—we still do!!,” Grumps Burgers’ post read.
“Unfortunately, this is one of those rules we have to make even though we really don’t want to. We LOVE seeing your pups, we LOVE our dog people, and we’re genuinely sorry to have to make this change.”
While pets are no longer allowed on the patio, the restaurant emphasized that service animals, under the Americans with Disabilities Act, are always welcome. ADA standards means dogs are trained to perform a task directly related to a person’s disability and not emotional support or comfort animals.
The restaurant’s team clarified that it is only the burger chain’s Glen Rose location south of Fort Worth.
So for now, Grumps Burger fans can still bring furry friends to its other seven locations across the state.
With the popularity of dog-friendly dining, the Glen Rose restaurant’s announcement has been met with mixed reactions. While some were upset about the news predicting it will lead to Grumps Burgers losing customers, others praised the change, adding that they wished more businesses would put this into practice.
