LANSING, WV (WVNS) Bridge Day is one of the most highly anticipated events in southern West Virginia each year. But in the meantime, locals and tourists alike get a taste of some of the finest foods in the area at Taste of Bridge Day.
What can you bring to Bridge Day?
Once you got there it did not take long to pick up on the scent of all sorts of delicious food. It is all about community, but that does not mean there isn’t a competitive edge to the proceedings. Each year, these vendors go head-to-head to bring home prizes in all sorts of categories. But everyone is aiming for the most prized award of all – People’s Choice.
“The winner gets a plaque. There’s one for Best Entree, Best Appetizer, Best Dessert, Best Snack. There’s a Youth Award also. The one that they really covet is the People’s Choice Award where everybody goes and drops in a coin to the vendor,” said Canyon Rim Rotary Club President, Stan Wriston. “Whoever has the most coins at the end of the night wins the People’s Choice.”

That said, it is all for a good cause.
Jeff Proctor with the Rotary Club said, “this money that we raise is used throughout the county to help serve different local education, sports, parks, all kinds of groups that may be interested in a little extra support to help keep their programs moving.”
Organizers said they always work to keep the fun going no matter the weather. Whether you are coming to eat, drink, enjoy the company of friends, or just take in the scenic views, they said there is a little something for everyone at Taste of Bridge Day.
