Two Illinois restaurants serve some of the best burritos in the U.S., according to one recent report, standing out for well-seasoned meats and salsas.

The July 8 report from restaurant review publication The Infatuation, “The 23 Best Burritos in America,” named Diego and Xocome Antojeria among the nation’s best. Both establishments are located in Chicago.

The analysis, which did not numerically rank the restaurants, lauded Xocome Antojeria for its large burrito featuring asada.

“These thoroughly seasoned, pleasantly chewy pieces of meat make this one of our highest-rated restaurants in the entire city,” editorial director Adrian Kane wrote in The Infatuation’s analysis.

If burritos aren’t your thing, Xocome Antojeria offers an extensive selection of tacos, enchiladas and sope.

Xocome Antojeria is located at 5200 S. Archer Ave. in Chicago and is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, according to its Instagram page.

Dining at Diego

Diego may be known for its seafood, but also serves steak-based dishes and a popular California-style burrito, The Infatuation reported.

“Loaded with juicy chunks of marinated steak, it’s simply the best display of beefy prowess on their menu,” staff writer John Ringor wrote in The Infatuation’s analysis.

The establishment serves a steak burrito for $24, as well as chicken- and mushroom-based options.

Diego is located at 495 N. Ogden Ave. in Chicago and is open for various happy hours, weekend brunch service, late night food menus and late night bar service. Dinner service is available 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
