A Bar Called PUP is preparing to open in Cincinnati’s College Hill neighborhood, taking over the former Kiki space at 5932 Hamilton Ave. The upcoming wine bar and restaurant is being developed by hospitality professional Katie Reeder and chef Justin Koontz, who plan to bring a curated wine selection and creative food menu to the neighborhood.
The new business will occupy a space previously used by Kiki, a Japanese gastropub that relocated to Cincinnati’s Clifton neighborhood in 2025. The address was previously home to a National City Bank branch before becoming a restaurant space.
Reeder brings experience from Cincinnati’s wine and hospitality scene, including work with Oakley Wines, The Rhined and Boca Restaurant Group. Koontz has worked in acclaimed New Orleans restaurants, including Jewel of the South and Cochon, and will lead the food program at A Bar Called PUP.
The concept will pair Reeder’s wine selections with a menu developed by Koontz, with an emphasis on quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation and an inviting atmosphere. The partners aim to create a place where guests can gather over food and drinks in a relaxed, approachable setting.
The opening will add another food and beverage business to Hamilton Avenue, a key commercial corridor in College Hill. The neighborhood has continued to attract independent businesses as local organizations work to strengthen its dining and retail offerings.
An official opening date, operating hours and the full menu have not yet been announced.
