LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A new stop for toasted subs, drinks and laid-back vibes has opened its first location in Nebraska, sitting inside Lincoln’s Telegraph District near 21st and M streets.

Based in Colorado, officials say the cannabis-themed sandwich “joint” is dedicated to combining homegrown recipes with a chill, eclectic environment.

As part of a new series called Lincoln’s Table, 10/11’s Nathan Brennan will be highlighting some of the Capital City’s newest restaurants as they open around town, with the first edition featuring Cheba Hut.

Brennan spoke with franchise owner Andrea Remaklus, who will run the shop alongside her husband. Since doors opened Thursday morning, Remaklus said Lincoln has already been “absolutely fantastic” in supporting them.

“People just know and love it,” she said. “You travel to Colorado on a regular basis, you’re eating at Cheba Hut and so you know how good it is, and we wanted to have it here.”

This new location also features decor by local artists, including a mural by Lincoln artist Danny Reneau. Remaklus said she’s excited to see how the community continues to give to their shop.

“Come in and enjoy it,” she said. “Sit down have a drink at the bar, get some Kool-Aid, we’re the number one distributor of Kool-Aid in the United States, Cheba Hut is, and so enjoy all there is. You’re going to find something new every time you come in and look.”

Lincoln’s Cheba Hut will be open Sunday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight. Beginning in September, late-night hours will extend until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
