Collaborative event features free community dinner and a pumpkin carving contest

ARLINGTON — The Arlington Area Alliance—a collaborative of Arlington non-profit organizations working together to serve the local community—has announced the upcoming Pumpkins on Parade celebration. On Friday, October 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. James Graveyard grounds, Pumpkins on Parade brings neighbors together for an evening celebrating local creativity, connection, and community spirit. Before the judging, enjoy a free community dinner for all attendees, generously sponsored by the Battenkill Valley Health Center.

Community members of all ages are invited to showcase their artistic skills. Submit carved pumpkins by 5 p.m. on event day on the St. James Graveyard wall. Judges will evaluate entries throughout the evening, and winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. Need a pumpkin to carve for the contest? Complimentary pumpkins, kindly donated by Nolan Farms of West Arlington, will be available for pick-up at the Martha Canfield Memorial Free Library on Tuesday, October 27, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., while supplies last.

“Pumpkins on Parade and the Community Dinner are a wonderful opportunity for families, friends, and neighbors to gather and celebrate the spirit of Arlington,” said Reverend Jeremy Means-Koss. “We are proud to collaborate across our local non-profits (Battenkill Valley Health Center, Martha Canfield Free Memorial Library, Arlington Area Childcare, and the Arlington Common) to host an evening full of warmth, fun, and seasonal tradition.”

Admission and dinner are free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to bring their families, friends, and best carved pumpkin creations. The dinner and event will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, Historic Route 7A, Arlington, VT. The Arlington Area Alliance is a collaborative network of non-profit organizations dedicated to strengthening community connection, supporting local initiatives, and enhancing the quality of life for residents across the greater Arlington, Vermont area.
