The space previously occupied by Brama la Pizza in downtown Clarendon Hills has been purchased with plans by the new owners to keep it as a restaurant.
However, Rich Ciota, owner of Il Mio, next door at 30 S. Prospect Ave., said specific plans for the new space haven’t yet been decided.
“My partners bought (the former Brama la Pizza space); however, we haven’t finalized the concept yet,” Ciota said.
Il Mio is billed by its operators as being inspired by hometown kitchens and beloved family get-togethers with a menu that features “approachable and sharable Italian dishes, inspired by all our favorite family recipes.” It opened in January 2022.
Brama la Pizza opened in 2017 at the northwest corner of Prospect and Park Avenues and closed about two months ago. The business will continue to operate a Palos Hills location.
The owners didn’t respond to phone and email messages about the closing, but made notice of it on social media.
“Thank you for welcoming us into this incredible community, for supporting a small family business, and for allowing us to be part of your birthdays, celebrations, family dinners, school events, and everyday moments,” they wrote on Facebook. “What started as a dream became something far greater because of each and every one of you.”
Village President Eric Tech said after the closing that he was sorry to see a beloved business close in town.
“However, our business district is dynamic. We would like to see a family-focused restaurant fill that space to serve our community and attract visitors from neighboring towns.”
Tech said Clarendon Hills remains a “highly desirable and excellent place to do business.”
The (Village Board’s) willingness to invest in the future of our downtown will be a major driver in bringing a high-quality establishment to this location,” he said. “A strong commitment from the village to future improvements will help us find great partners, while enhancing the overall quality and vitality of our community.”
