The spot is known for home-cooked meals that are steamed or baked, never fried. Think roast beef, salads, mac & cheese, steamed vegetables, desserts, and more.
Once the announcement was made via social media on Sunday, October 18th, 2026, the community flooded the Sign of the Beefcarver Facebook page with nothing but love.

When my boyfriend Nick told me about the closure yesterday, I immediately recognized the restaurant’s name and sign. However, I am m sorry to say I don’t recall ever eating at Sign of the Beefcarver. Which seems strange, because this is the type of spot my family would have loved, so maybe I was just too young to remember.
The bright side here, if there is one, is that we still have a little time to enjoy the food and visit the employees who have made this original location so special for so many years.
Whether it’s your first visit this week or you are known by name at Sign of the Beefcarver in Royal Oak, get in before it’s too late.
Sign of the Beefcarver is located at 27400 Woodward Avenue, 48067.
