Bixby Chocolate of Rockland recently won four medals at the International Chocolate Awards.
The company earned its wins in the award program’s United States Bean-to-Bar and Craft Chocolatier competition. Bixby won three silver medals for their Organic Bourbon 70% Dark Chocolate Bar, Organic Crème Brûlée Bar, and Bourbon Bonbon with Bourbon Barrel Heirloom Salt. They also won a bronze for their Organic Dominican Republic 70% Dark Chocolate Bar.
Bixby is Maine’s first bean-to-bar chocolatier, launched in 2011.
“It is especially meaningful to have both our origin chocolate and some of our more creative Maine-made confections recognized alongside leading craft chocolate makers from across the country,” said company founder and CEO Kate McAleer.
The International Chocolate Awards are the world’s largest chocolate competition. Winners from the U.S. competition automatically advance to the International Chocolate Awards World Final. Judging is currently underway, with winners slated to be announced Nov. 7.
Bixby Chocolate has won several awards for its products over the years, including a Good Food Award this summer for their Organic Belize 70% Dark Chocolate Bar.
