It’s National Pizza Month (of course there’s a whole month dedicated to this most delicious of delivery options), and to celebrate, DoorDash just released its 2026 Top Pizza Spots list. The list highlights the country’s best independent pizzerias with huge ratings and serious fan followings. On the list are small and medium-sized restaurants that serve pizza, have fewer than 10 locations, have at least 1,000 DoorDash reviews and have the highest average ratings from September 2025 through September 2026. Out of thousands of contenders nationwide, four Chicago pizzerias claimed a well-deserved spot on the leaderboard.

Bringing an authentic taste of New York straight to the Windy City, Jimmy’s Pizza Cafe is famous for giant, foldable slices with a crackly, light crust. It’s the ultimate go-to spot when you need a classic slice done right.

Piece Pizzeria & Brewery, a Wicker Park institution, has earned a cult-like following for its crispy, New Haven-style pies. Whether you prefer red, white or plain tomato base, their chewy, charred crust makes every order memorable.

Robert’s Pizza & Dough Company makes dough the main event. Located along the riverfront, this spot crafts artisanal, slow-fermented crusts topped with fresh, extra-special ingredients like caramelized onions and specialty cured meats.

“What I love about pizza is how local it is. Every neighborhood has a spot people are fiercely loyal to,” said Ruth Isenstadt, Head of U.S. Restaurants at DoorDash. “This list celebrates the restaurants that earn that loyalty order after order, and the people behind them who keep finding ways to make a familiar favorite their own.”

According to DoorDash data, pepperoni still rules as the topping of choice, white pizza is gaining traction, pineapple (despite arguments to the contrary) is ordered more often than olives or bacon, caramelized onions are enjoying widespread popularity and New York-style orders are skyrocketing across the nation. But when it comes to straightforward pizza pleasure, these four spots are holding it down for Chicago’s pizza delivery scene.
