RIDGEFIELD — The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is offering an event that’s perfect for art lovers and foodies.
At the Aldrich Artists at the Table event, which takes place Sept. 26 from 6 to 9 p.m., with a rain date of Sept. 27, guests may enjoy dinner conversation with a Connecticut artist over a plate of buttermilk chicken and fresh fried green tomatoes while dining alfresco
This year’s event, which takes place under string lights in the Aldrich’s newly renovated outdoor Sculpture Garden, is the first farm-to-table dinner since the museum started its makeover of the sculpture garden in 2022.
Visitors may dine alongside exhibiting artists while surrounded by striking artworks featured in the museum’s landmark exhibition “The Aldrich Decennial: I am what is around me,” which features 40 artists who live and work in Connecticut, according to a news release.
“This is one of these moments where people have an opportunity to mingle with our artists. And this, at the table, is really special,” said Emily Devoe from the museum.
Artist Karla Knight who attended the last Artists at the Table in 2022 said, “the mix of artists, collectors, staff, and friends led to many stimulating connections. The food was great and the outdoor venue was a delight.”
With cocktails in hand, guests can savor fresh shucked oysters from Westport’s Precious Oysters while browsing original artwork and exclusive experiences during a silent auction on the museum grounds.
Prepared by Herbaceous Catering, main course options include a whole roasted buttermilk chicken with velouté sauce and farmers market vegetable succotash, salmon glazed in maple mustard sauce with delicata squash, pomegranate and kale or hand-rolled pasta primavera with farmers market vegetables.
Starters include roasted beet and apple salad with borage greens, micro arugula, red wine vinaigrette and fried green tomatoes with miso ranch, garlic chive blossom. Italian plum torte with vanilla bean whip finishes the meal.
