Plenty of restaurants that closed this year in Missoula. The closings always grab the headlines for some reason. I don’t know; maybe we’re negative people.
Let’s focus on the positives: Several restaurants that opened in 2026.
Double K Ranch Bar opened a second location downtown near Beartracks Bridge in June. My girlfriend and I tried the new location last week, and to no one’s surprise, the burgers are still dynamite.
Oh, and the French fries were out-of-this-world tasty.
Liquid Planet has had an up-and-down year. The Brooks location shut down, but they opened a new location on Broadway downtown.

One of the most devastating closures, for me personally, over the last few years was Imagine Nation Brewing. That one hurt me deeply, but the Missoula Beverage Cooperative is trying to fill that void. MBC is a brewery, coffeehouse, and community space that opened up in the old Imagine Nation location on Broadway on October 21.
The Drum Coffee location shut down on South Avenue, but was reborn as Biscuit Hound Cafe, like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

Suzette’s Organics expanded from the Bitterroot into Missoula and opened its doors in the old 4B’s location in July.
One of the newest openings was Atomic Tacos in the former James Bar location. The Kalispell restaurant opened its second location.
Sumac Cafe opened in the Florence Building with its secretive alley entrance.
