KNGT | Vinton, LA — If you’ve been looking for something fun to do with the family this weekend, head on over to Vinton! The St. Joseph’s Cajun Festival is coming up Saturday and Sunday, October 24th and 25th, and they’ve got a whole lot planned. We’re talking live Cajun and Zydeco music, good food, sweet treats, games for the kids, and a chance to get out and visit with folks from around Southwest Louisiana. And y’all know we don’t need much of an excuse to get together when there’s good food and live music involved.
The festival will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 1502 Industrial Street in Vinton. So if you’re anywhere around Sulphur, Westlake, Orange, or Lake Charles, this could be a good way to spend part of your weekend without having to travel too far.

Now, let’s talk about the music, because they’ve got a lineup that’ll get folks moving.
Saturday’s lineup includes:
12:00 – 1:00pm – Timmy Dugas
1:30 – 3:00pm – Mais Oui
4:00 – 5:00pm – Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners
5:45 – 7:30pm – Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys
8:00 – 10:00pm – Travis Matte
Then Sunday
2:00 – 4:00pm – Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie
That’s a whole lot of good Louisiana music packed into one weekend. If you’ve ever spent an afternoon listening to Zydeco with a plate of Cajun food in your hand, you already know how this goes. Somebody starts tapping their feet, somebody else gets up to dance, and before long, folks are having themselves a pretty good time. And if you’re bringing the kids along, this isn’t just about the music. There’s plenty more going on around the festival grounds.

Cajun Food, Sweet Treats and Fun for the Kids
Let’s be honest. Good food is a big part of any Louisiana festival, and the St. Joseph’s Cajun Festival is bringing authentic Cajun food and sweet treats for folks to enjoy. You’ll also find kids’ activities, arts and crafts, games, and inflatables. So the little ones will have plenty to keep them busy while the grown-ups enjoy the music, grab something to eat, and catch up with friends. There’s also a silent auction planned, along with plenty more happening throughout the weekend.
That’s one of the things I like about local festivals like this. You get families out of the house, neighbors visiting with neighbors, and folks spending a little time supporting their community. Sometimes it’s nice to put the phones down, get outside, and just enjoy being around people for a while. And around here, it doesn’t hurt when there’s some good Cajun cooking involved.
How Much Does the St. Joseph’s Cajun Festival Cost?
Admission is $10 per day for adults, or you can get a weekend pass for $15 if you plan to come both Saturday and Sunday. Kids 12 and under get in free when accompanied by an adult. If you’re planning to stay for both days, that weekend pass might be the way to go. You can catch Saturday’s music, come back Sunday for Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie, and enjoy more of the food and family activities.
Here’s where you’ll find the festival:

15 Craziest Laws in Louisiana
If you’ve lived in Louisiana long enough, you already know this state marches to its own beat. We fry just about everything, we’ll turn any weekend into a festival, and we have laws on the books that’ll make you stop mid-sentence and say, “Wait… that’s real?”
According to Kenny Habetz Injury Law, it sure is. Their Lafayette personal injury lawyers put together a list of the 15 craziest rules still floating around Louisiana law. Some of these will make you laugh. Some might make you scratch your head. And believe it or not, breaking a few of them could land you with a fine or even jail time.
