On the heels of Gordon Ramsay making the rounds at Twin Cities area restaurants, Phil Rosenthal has been doing the same.
The host of “Somebody Feed Phil” has been seen filming and sampling the wares at a fleet of restaurants, indicating that Minneapolis may be the focus of an episode in the upcoming ninth season of show.
Rosenthal’s production company did not respond to a request for comment, but there have been more than a couple hints that an episode is in the works.
Modern Times Cafe, which will close later this year, shared a photo of owner Dylan Aversion talking with Rosenthal over a few plates on Oct. 14. “If you were in Monday, you might have noticed that we fed Phil,” the caption reads.
Elsewhere, the Star Tribune reports that Rosenthal was seen with cameras at Diane’s Place in Northeast Minneapolis.
Sebastian Joe’s also shared a photo with Rosenthal, proclaiming, “We got to feed Phil!” Though, the Minneapolis ice cream shop did not say whether he was filming or just stopping off for a treat.
Mercado Central on Lake Street took a different approach, posting about Rosenthal’s pending visit on Oct. 16, asking the community to come to the market for the shoot.
“This is more than just a television show. It’s an opportunity to share our story, celebrate our roots, and show the world the strength and beauty of our Latino community!” the post reads.
Other posts on social media suggest he visited Saffron and took a ride on the Como-Harriet Streetcar. But it’s not clear what was for fun and was being put on camera.
“Somebody Feed Phil,” the follow-up to his PBS show “I’ll Have What Phil’s Having,” launched in 2018 and spent eight seasons on Netflix.
However, earlier this year, Rosenthal and his Lucky Bastards production company announced that the ninth season will not arrive on Netflix. Instead, it’ll be released through this Phil Rosenthal World YouTube channel at some point in 2027.
