HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Steak lovers in Henderson County may soon have even more dining options.

After receiving the latest Ask 13 question from viewer Kyle about rumors of a new Texas Roadhouse near Blue Ridge Mall, News 13 reached out to Henderson County officials for an update.
ASK 13: WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE VACANT MCDONALD’S IN EAST ASHEVILLE?
According to Henderson County Permits and Inspections Director Crystal Lyda, building plans have been submitted for a Texas Roadhouse in the Blue Ridge Mall area. However, she says no building permit has been issued at this time.
Lyda said the county is still waiting for the permit application to be submitted, meaning the project is not yet officially approved for construction.

There is more certainty about another steakhouse coming to the area.
Lyda confirmed that LongHorn Steakhouse is moving forward with plans to open in the former O’Charley’s restaurant space in the Walmart shopping plaza, located at Highlands Square Drive. O’Charley’s closed in 2023.
The new LongHorn Steakhouse will be nearly 6,000 square feet. According to Lyda, the restaurant is expected to open sometime in 2027.
