Life in KC is pretty delicious. In fact, there is often so much going on that it can be hard to decide where to go and what to try.

That’s where I come in.

I’ve curated this weekly list of events, openings, deals, and celebrations to keep you in-the-know. Cheers!

Opening

The Horseshoe: On October 30 at 8 p.m., a new spot adding to KC’s largest bar will open its doors. The Horseshoe is part of the interconnected bars in Westport, each with its own identity and aesthetic, and this one is “country.” For example, you get a free Horseshoe belt buckle with a bottle purchase, and there’s space on the wooden dance floor for some line dancing.

Blurred Bar: Quickly replacing Le Champion in Westport, Blurred Bar is set to hold a soft opening on October 31 from 5 – 9:30 p.m. The new izakaya-inspired spot offers ramen, sandos, and small plates, plus a large drink menu. In addition to a cocktail menu, beer, sake, espresso, and tea, a house drinks menu is designed as non-alcoholic first, but with the option to add a spirit.

Closing

Gaels Public House & Sports: Gaels has announced that it will close as of November 6. After five years of pub service, plus a variety of weekly events, Gaels will not renew its lease at the Troost restaurant location, formerly Brady’s Public House. Rising costs and the “old building proving difficult to maintain” were cited as the reasons. If you make one more visit in the next week, we have recommendations.

October 29

The Westside Local: The second annual Spirits in the Attic event will be from 6 – 9 p.m. at Westside Local. $66.60 tickets to the event include snacks and two drink tickets, plus a costume contest. There will also be a Polaroid bar and tarot readings.

October 30

Vine Street Brewing: From 6 – 10 p.m., Vine Street Brewing will be the place for sensational celebrations as Brass & Boujee takes the stage for a big-band meets hip-hop Halloween party. Admission is $10, and there will be a costume contest. I always recommend getting a tasting flight here to compare your go-to favorites with their new or featured brews before ordering your first pint.

October 31

XO Hifi: The Crossroads hi-fi bar (one of our 2026 favorites) is hosting its final pop-up market of the year. From 1 – 5 p.m., stop by for a drink and enjoy special goodies from Devoured Pizza and Blackhole Bakery, plus cool vendors.

Martini Corner: Up for some afternoon adult trick-or-treating? The bars and restaurants in Martini Corner invite you to the Terror at the Tower bar crawl from 3 – 7 p.m. Tickets in advance are $43.10, all-in, for one basic drink at each stop, or $60.70 for premium drinks at Afterword, Brickhouse, Cliff’s Taphouse, Daiquiri District, and Social House.

November 1

Yoli Tortilleria: At the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art’s Día de los Muertos holiday celebration, Yoli Tortilleria will be posted up in classrooms four and five starting at 10 a.m. to sell fresh-made Mexican dishes. These include tacos de barbacoa, esquites de maíz pozolero, aguas frescas, pan de muerto, and more. Additionally, The Tamale Kitchen food truck will be parked outside, and additional Mexican-inspired entrees and small plates can be purchased in Rozzelle Court Restaurant and the Bloch lobby.

Jade Jaguar: One of the agave-focused bars in Crossroads, Jade Jaguar, is the host for this year’s Oh Hey, Agave! Brunch. The agave celebration is back, offering five dishes from Ruben Leal of Caramelo and Ignacio Tacos, plus cocktail pairings. Brunch tickets are $78.15, all in. Oh Hey, Agave! is also hosting a party exclusively for industry professionals, including bar, restaurant, and liquor retailer employees, later tonight at King G from 7 – 11 p.m.
