CALIFORNIA’S FAMOUS WINERIES… always have something bubbling, or perhaps “fizzing” is more ebulliently apt. Uplifting events, interesting educational outings, and social-ready celebrations frequently fill a vineyard’s calendar, even in the winter and spring. But it is during the later part of summer, and the start of fall, when Harvest-happy festivities begin to energetically up the sparkle factor. September is California Wine Month and grape-growing destinations, from Northern California to storied spots close to San Diego, will beckon oenophiles with a host of diversions. Those intriguing offerings might be of the learning variety, but there are some let-loose larks on the roster, too, including the chance to zipline at Santa Margarita Ranch and stomp grapes at Bella Vista Winery in Temecula.
SOME OF THE 2026 FESTIVITIES… are taking place every day, or nearly, depending on the wineries, but other parties are landing on specific dates. A Cookie Pairing Experience with Alexander Valley Vineyards in Healdsburg is spanning September, while a Vinyl Night at Darcie Kent Estate Winery in Livermore will spin some sweet sounds Sept. 12. Other tempting to-dos festooning the line-up at various wineries include a paella-themed evening, a pilates session, harvest dinners, special wine releases, and the Capitola Art & Wine Festival, which is raising spirits over the second weekend of September. Paso Robles, Sonoma, and Goleta are dotting the 2026 map, so pause to find the wine-and-food-inspired events closest to you.
