Romeoville is getting a new grocery store. The Village Board recently gave final approval to a La Hacienda grocery store and restaurant at the southwest corner of Weber Road and Creekside Drive, ending a yearslong search for another grocer.

The board also approved a separate four-tenant retail center farther north on Weber Road.

“Our team has been reviewing these plans since February and we are very excited to give them their final approval,” Mayor John Noak said. “We look forward to welcoming more businesses to the community and especially the addition of another grocery store.”

No opening date has been announced. When the board first reviewed the project in February, village staff expected construction to begin as early as May and the store to open by September. Noak also highlighted the project in his State of the Village address this spring as one of three new shopping centers planned along Weber Road.

The 12,000-square-foot La Hacienda will be a full-service grocery store with an in-house butcher who cuts meat to order. It will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The family-owned chain has five other Chicago-area stores. The grocery was originally planned at 17,000 square feet.

The store will share its building with a 2,500-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru, open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant will also include a speakeasy, a first for Romeoville, open Thursday through Sunday from 5 to 11 p.m. The development includes two more retail spaces for future tenants.
